Africa: Over 400 Investment Projects to be Initiated

 Angolan minister of Economy, Abahão Gourgel, Thursday in Luanda mentioned 403 investment projects of various sizes and various complexity in the Great Lakes region as having been identified in seven business sectors.

Speaking at the Regional Consultation Conference on Private Investment Opportunities in Great Lakes Region, the minister said that the process follows the criteria that include the participation of at least two countries in the region in each project.

The official said that 24, of the 403 identified projects, were considered particular strategic.

According to him, all the 403 identified opportunities as well as the opportunities that may arise will be part of a digital database constantly updated and accessible to potential investors at any time.

The official also stressed that the achievement of peace has opened new hopes for the Angolan people, adding that this opportunity allowed the recovery of necessary infrastructure for economic development and the improvement of living conditions of the population.

The minister defended the need of a strategy to mobilise the potential of the local resources to boost action focused on public investments in partnerships with private operators.
